We were on the island for a few days surrounding the summer solstice, when the sun is as far north as it gets. The first I saw of it was at 5am on June 20th, and I am delighted to share this northerly sunrise with you.
Hello,
I too love BI,the pics are beautiful! My husband and I are actually planning to visit overnight. Our anniversary is Wednesday! Would you have any suggestions? We’ d like to enjoy the ocean too.
Thanks
Carly 😉
Hi Carly,
Glad you enjoy the pictures. I’m not sure what you need suggestions for–a place to stay? a place to eat? activities? Before we built the house Dan and I used to stay at the Atlantic Inn. The views over the rooftops of Old Harbor are beautiful. We still enjoy going there for a drink out on the front porch and then dinner. Very romantic! (That is, if they don’t have a tent erected on the lawn in front of the porch. Been known to happen.) There’s a nice table for two in the corner looking out over Old Harbor too. That’s where we went for *our* anniversary. Spring House and Manisses are good, too. As for activities, we prefer Mansion Beach to Crescent Beach, and weather permitting, we like to walk everywhere. But if you go into the paths (Rodman’s Hollow or the Maze) make sure you use bug spray. The incidence of Lyme Disease is very high on the island.
